SUPPORTERS ARGUE

The WTO has done much to facilitate global trade and improve living standards around the world. Far from trampling on the sovereignty of poor countries, the body gives the developing world an effective forum through which it can pursue its trading interests. While the WTO has flaws, reform, not rejection, should be the course of action.

OPPONENTS ARGUE

The organization has failed to help poor countries improve their economies. It is an undemocratic bureaucracy that infringes on the sovereignty of its member countries by forcing them to adopt rules that may clash with their own national policies and laws.
